The ‘Easiest Platform There Is Right Now’ for Mineral Buyers

November 6, 2024

Vector Energy Partners transitioned from clunky spreadsheets and redundant software to ComboCurve's streamlined platform, a shift that allowed for easier evaluation of units, efficient creation of type curves, and more accurate data management. Will Vandiver shares how adopting ComboCurve enhanced accuracy, and improved efficiency in his mineral and royalty evaluations. He also highlights the dedicated support and commitment to client feedback that sets ComboCurve apart in the industry.

The 'Easiest Platform' There is Right Now for Mineral Buyers

“It is the easiest to use evaluation platform out there right now. And for mineral and royalties, it’s a no-brainer, you can have a package evaluated and a ballpark offer within minutes!”

– Will Vandiver, Vice President of Business Development at Vector Energy Partners, LLC

Misfit Operator Tools for Mineral Evaluations

Vector Energy Partners previously relied on tools that were not well-suited for the unique needs of mineral and royalty evaluations. This often required unnecessary inputs and added hours to workflows. “We were using kind of clunky Excel spreadsheets and/or trying to use other older, outdated software that is tailored specifically to operators that have a lot of redundant functionality,” explains Will. “Everything needed an input in order to have any functionality. Even if it didn’t pertain to us, we’d have to spend an extra hour or two of workflow just toggling things.”

Realizing they needed a faster, more accurate solution tailored specifically to mineral buyers, they turned to ComboCurve.

ComboCurve literally has a team dedicated to you, which is what drew us to the platform and what made us say ‘alright, this is the only solution we’re going to use.’”

Prioritizing Efficiency, Accuracy, and User-Centric Design

Adopting ComboCurve affected Vector’s workflow by making it easier to evaluate units, create type curves, and perform in-depth analyses.

“ComboCurve is instrumental. Especially when we’re evaluating big packages to buy, or evaluating our own package & doing internal inventory management. That‘s where ComboCurve really comes into play for us and allows us, in a much more simplified workflow, to do in-depth evaluations.”

Mineral Buyers Learn Quick, Save Big

Vector quickly became proficient in ComboCurve, even for those without engineering backgrounds.

Will noted, “It’s clear that even a random non-engineer could become proficient on the platform within two weeks to a month. That’s really what you need when you’re getting accustomed to a brand new software.” This ease of use eliminated the need for costly and time-consuming training sessions, shortening the learning curve compared to other solutions. “Otherwise, you’re having to attend courses that are an added $10,000-$20,000 fee.”

Type Curves Made Fast and Easy

Vector has found that creating type curves is much simpler with ComboCurve.

“It allows you to easily copy the type curves if you’re in the same play & type curve area over to new projects. It allows you to build type curve areas super easily within two hours. Then, after removing the outliers, it does all your sensitivity analysis off the bat when it comes to those EURs. So, you can make an ultra-conservative and/or not ultra-conservative estimate of what you have in front of you.”
Using ComboCurve has also made it easier for Vector to evaluate units accurately and efficiently. “When you’re evaluating on the mineral side and you’re evaluating oddly shaped Texas units, it allows you to toggle and normalize the type curve to the lateral length in such an easy way because each unit in Texas can be different sizes & lengths. And you can add your perforated lateral length based on the unit size in such an easy way, and then it’ll normalize that type curve.”

Improved Accuracy and Detailed Functionality

“It’s really only a five-step process when you’re using ComboCurve. From starting a new project to spitting out a full evaluation with your relevant production taxes by state and differentials factored in. It even allows you to factor in the depletion allowance for tax purposes with the click of a button. It’s just an intuitive platform that knows mineral buyers, and the associated variables when evaluating.”

Unlike outdated software, ComboCurve can be tailored specifically to the minerals industry. This ensures quick decision-making and ease of use, even for those without a strong engineering background. This partnership highlights how specialized technology can drive substantial operational improvements and maintain a competitive edge.
